Appearing Friday on The Hugh Hewitt Show, 2020 Democrat presidential contender Mayor Pete Buttigieg said Thomas Jefferson’s name should be erased from any events, calling it the “right thing to do.”

Breitbart reports Buttigieg told Hewitt that so-called Jefferson-Jackson Dinner’s he has attended are “problematic” because, while there was a lot to admire about Jefferson, he did own slaves.

Buttigieg said “It’s not like we’re blotting him out of the history books,” but did admit that his state of Indiana is actively working on removing Jefferson’s name from dinners and other events.
