Men twice as likely as women to fall in love with a robot

Do you believe in human-robot love? One in ten Americans admit they’ve had a flirty and romantic conversation with an AI bot, according to new research.

A survey of 2,000 U.S. adults revealed that 11% of those polled admitted to getting hot and heavy with AI chatbots like Claude, ChatGPT and Google Gemini.

And one in eight (12%) say a conversation with AI has turned them on.

Conducted by Talker Research, the survey found that younger Americans are far and away more likely to get steamy with artificial intelligence than older Americans.

Among Gen Z, over a quarter (27%) say they've had naughty conversations with an AI chatbot, and an equal share reports feeling aroused by those interactions.

The prevalence declines sharply with age: 16% of millennials say they've had romantically charged conversations with AI, compared with nine percent of Gen X and just two percent of baby boomers.

Men were about twice as likely as women to report romantic or sexual interactions with AI.

Fifteen percent of men said they've had flirty conversations with an AI chatbot, compared to 8% of women.

Similarly, 17% of men said a conversation with AI had turned them on, versus nine percent of women.

But is this a big deal, or just a harmless byproduct of new technology?

According to the results, a quarter of Americans (24%) believe that flirting with AI counts as cheating in a relationship.

This sentiment varies greatly by age as well, with younger Americans more prone to believe it.

Over a third of Gen Z Americans (36%) consider getting romantic with AI to be a dealbreaker in a relationship.

The survey suggests this trend may only continue to grow: 44% of Americans believe people will form more genuine emotional relationships with AI in the future, including 16% who think there will be "many" more.
