EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct 21, 2025--
Arbor Energy, a clean power company, today announced it has raised a $55 million Series A round, co-led by Lowercarbon Capital and Voyager Ventures, with participation from Gigascale Capital and Marathon Petroleum Corporation. The funding will enable the completion of Arbor’s 1 megawatt (MW) technology pilot, ATLAS, and support development of its 25 MW commercial product, HALCYON.
HALCYON is a modular, fuel-flexible turbine that combines advancements in oxy-combustion for emission-free power with supercritical CO2 to boost efficiency while decreasing size and cost. The system can be stacked from 25 MW to over 1 gigawatt (GW), delivering reliable, clean power to utilities, hyperscalers, and industrial operations.
Global electricity demand is surging, driven by AI, transportation, and industrial decarbonization. Incumbent turbine manufacturers cannot keep pace, while utilities face mounting pressure to deliver more power without increasing emissions. Arbor’s technology addresses this gap by combining speed of deployment with system-level redundancy for cheap 24/7 clean power.
“We have a massive opportunity to deliver abundant, clean, and reliable power that keeps pace with today’s industries,” said Brad Hartwig, CEO and Co-Founder of Arbor. “This funding lets us move quickly from tech pilot to commercial deployment and shows how modular, zero-emission turbines like HALCYON can solve the greatest energy challenges faced by businesses today.”
Each 25 MW turbine can operate independently or be chained together to form larger power plants giving customers new flexibility to expand capacity as demand grows. Arbor also leverages additive manufacturing to accelerate development and production timelines while eliminating supply chain bottlenecks and reducing maintenance costs. The system is fuel-flexible, meaning it can run on a variety of fuels from natural gas to syngas. When leveraging biomass as a fuel, the system can even deliver carbon-negative power.
"The AI revolution demands unprecedented amounts of clean, reliable power, and Arbor delivers exactly that," said Sarah Sclarsic, Founding and Managing Partner at Voyager Ventures. "Arbor's modular gas turbines provide the baseload capacity that data centers need, with the speed and flexibility that traditional infrastructure simply can't match. And best of all, they're made in America, low-cost, and are the first zero emission combustion turbines on the market."
In focusing on the 25–100 MW range, Arbor targets a segment that legacy turbine OEMs overlook. This middle-market capacity is increasingly critical for hyperscalers, manufacturers, and utilities, yet it remains underserved. By filling that gap, the company enables industries to secure reliable power without waiting 5+ years for large, centralized plants or overbuilt infrastructure. Smaller turbines offer inherent redundancy while also being faster to manufacture and deploy.
By 2032, Arbor plans to ship 100+ HALCYON turbines annually, representing over 1 GW of new production capacity every year—a meaningful share of global turbine market growth. The company’s systems will support not just data centers and manufacturers but also utilities looking to strengthen grid resilience with distributed, carbon-neutral generation.
