Leon set for sale because of FIFA's ownership rules for the Club World Cup

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexican club Leon will be sold to comply with the next Club World Cup’s regulations that prohibit multi-club ownership, but it won’t happen in the short term. The decision was announced by Grupo Pachuca owner Jesús Martínez. Leon and Pachuca belong to Grupo Pachuca and both teams qualified for the expanded tournament that will be staged next year in the United States. Martínez hopes FIFA will take the pending sale of Leon into account and let both teams participate in the tournament.
