SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec 1, 2025--

ShareBuilder 401k, a leading firm providing economical, all-ETF 401(k) retirement programs for small and medium-sized enterprises, today announced it is dropping all setup costs for mid and small business 401(k) plans through December 23, 2025. Businesses of any size with more than one employee can establish a 401(k) and save up to $750 on initial setup costs.

"The key for all Americans to build financial security in retirement is contributing consistently to a tax advantaged account. However, many small businesses are missing out on creating a strong retirement plan for themselves and their employees simply because they don't think they are big enough to qualify for one or think 401(k) benefits are expensive," said Stuart Robertson, CEO of ShareBuilder 401K. "At ShareBuilder 401k, we want any business, no matter its size, to be able to launch a very affordable retirement plan for themselves and their team – something they can actually install over their lunch hour – helping them build towards a secure retirement while benefiting from tax deductions."

An independent study sponsored by ShareBuilder 401k found that 55% of small business owners think their business is too small to access a plan, or that they cannot afford to offer a company match (28%). Furthermore, 22% of owners believe providing a 401(k) plan is too costly. However, ShareBuilder 401k has created low-cost, high-service retirement programs tailored specifically to the needs of small businesses. When combined with the Secure Act 2.0, which introduced substantial tax credits for small businesses with employees, offering a 401(k) can be nearly cost-neutral for the plan's first three years, making it a more accessible and financially sound choice for businesses.

For 2026, the employee deferral limit for Small Business 401(k) participants will rise to $24,500.

  • The Catch-Up Contribution for those aged 50 and older moves to $8,000.
  • The Special Age 60-63 Catch-up Contribution moves to $11,250.
  • The maximum total 401(k) contribution (employer and employee contributions combined) will increase to $72,000.
  • For participants aged 60 to 63, the total limit is $83,250.

ShareBuilder 401k offers a variety of plans designed to fit the needs of businesses of different sizes, emphasizing affordability, user-friendly technology, and exceptional client service.
