PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A mural of George Floyd in a Philadelphia neighborhood was defaced with white nationalist graffiti on Friday. The mural was commissioned by the North 5th Street Revitalization Project. The community group believes the vandalism occurred sometime overnight. White paint and the logos and insignia of a white supremacist group covered most of the mural, which was painted on a newsstand. Floyd, who was Black, died on May 25, 2020, after a white Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for about 9 1/2 minutes. The former officer, Derek Chauvin, was convicted of murder and manslaughter in his death.
