READING, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say police officers in eastern Pennsylvania shot and critically wounded an armed person who refused to drop the weapon. The Berks County district attorney’s office said Reading officers were called about a person with a gun and responded to the area. Prosecutors said the officers issued numerous commands to drop the weapon, but the individual refused and kept pointing the firearm at officers. Prosecutors said officers then fired, striking the individual at least once. The individual was rushed to Reading Hospital and remains in critical condition, prosecutors said. Prosecutors said they are continuing to gather information as part of their investigation.
