STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct 13, 2025--

In The Car, LLC., an embedded digital-first insurance platform, today announced that it has filed a U.S. provisional patent application for its innovative technology that delivers personalized auto insurance in real time to customers during new car purchases or service appointments.

The patented system enables OEMs and automotive dealerships to provide customers individualized insurance quotes from an A-rated insurer near instantly. The new technology can be seamlessly integrated into the automobile dealer’s sales process without changing the customer experience.

Car dealers access the new technology by incorporating In The Car into their dealership management system (DMS). By leveraging secure data connections, real-time event triggers, and automation, In The Car transforms the way consumers discover and purchase insurance.

“Our mission is to make insurance contextual, effortless, and available when it matters most — in the buying or service experience,” said Matt Edmonds, Chief Executive Officer of In The Car. “This patent filing is an important milestone in redefining how technology connects drivers, dealers, and insurers.”

Laura Crabill, Vice President of Operations, added: “We’re focused on building a system that benefits all parties — simplifying dealership operations while giving customers meaningful choice and convenience.”

In a typical new car sale, the process is interrupted when a customer needs to obtain insurance. They’ll turn to a traditional agents, go online to shop and compare, or use an online aggregator to get a list of choices. In The Car uses customer information already provided to the dealer’s DMS system and then applies its patent-pending technology to generate a tailor-made policy in less than a minute. Likewise, when a customer brings a car in for service, In The Car will generate a competitively priced policy while they wait. On their way out, customers receive a text asking if they’d be interested in a quote. If they respond with a “yes”, they receive an offer which mirrors or improves on their current level of coverage. In the overwhelming majority of cases – though not always – the cost will be lower.

In The Car’s patent filing marks a significant step in the ongoing development of digital tools that connect the automotive and insurance ecosystems.
