The disciple James talks about looking into a mirror to see our faces. When we see that our face is dirty, yet walk away and forget to clean it, we deceive ourselves. This isn’t what God wants.
God’s divine intervention and power are always evident in mind-blowing sunsets, torrential storms, or even the spine-tingling roar of wild creatures. But just because God is all-powerful, holding all of creation together, he can still and will always provide quiet direction.
In the New Testament, Jesus affirmed that the greatest commandments were to love the Lord and to love one’s neighbor (Mark 12:30-31). A person’s neighbor included not only those who lived nearby, but also those who were quite different in regard to ethnicity, nationality, and location, as the parable of the Good Samaritan shows (Luke 10:25-37).
As you head into your vacation, try to leave your worries about home and work behind on purpose. If anxious thoughts follow you into your vacation, don’t panic or get frustrated with yourself. Just pray about all of your concerns, trust God to help you with them, and return your focus to the present moment.
Commemorating Memorial Day is vital to America’s future and to not forget our military men and women who served and fought for our country throughout the decades: to reflect on, remember, remind, and recognize the fight, the cost, the sorrow, and the sacrifices, how they have paid dearly with their lives, so that we may live and enjoy the blessings of freedom today.
The Holy Spirit is our Helper, and He will help you walk in God’s will. You don’t have to muster up your “faith muscles” to see that happen. You simply need to trust that God’s plan for your life will be accomplished, not because there is anything good in you, but because of His goodness and faithfulness!
The closing of one chapter simply means another is about to begin; every ending is a new beginning. Our story is not over. And if the story isn’t good, God’s not done yet.
Rediscover the profound spiritual benefits of childlike play, which can refresh your soul and draw you closer to God. Embracing moments of pure joy not only enriches your own life but also serves as a powerful testament to God's goodness, inspiring hope in others.
We all have those dark, lifeless places where we think nothing good can happen. As we grieve these areas of life, may we, like Hannah, turn to the Lord in prayer.
Each day when you get out of bed in the morning, ask the Lord to help reveal any sin that is in your life. Ask Him to change your heart of hypocrisy to a heart of honesty.
Today, may we ask our great God for his help. May we humbly request the help of his people. May we petition the Holy Spirit to fill us with a clear and fortified mind and will. And then open our hearts to receive.
Christlike welcome of others is what Scripture calls us to do, not because we must as a checklist obligation, but because doing so reflects the heart of our Savior who lovingly bids us to come to Him despite our brokenness and sin.
Conviction, repentance, and discipline are all great gifts from our Father in heaven. He wants us to be honest with Him so that we can see real transformation happen in our lives, as He conforms us into the image of His Son.
