Recent polling reveals a significant shift in the Democratic Party's stance towards socialism. Conducted by UGov for CBS News from August 12th to 14th, the survey shows that 58% of Democrats view socialism positively, compared to only 18% with a negative opinion. This trend intensifies among Democrats with college degrees, with 71% expressing positive views. Conversely, only 14% of Republicans view socialism positively, while 72% hold a negative opinion. The data also indicates a divide within the Democratic Party regarding its progressiveness, with 47% believing it is about as progressive as they want and 44% feeling it is not progressive enough. This internal debate will likely influence the party's direction in the upcoming elections.
