Despite the outcry, experts argue that the impact of gas prices on disposable income is relatively minor, at just 2.5%, one of the lowest levels in the past 65 years. Moreover, modern vehicles are significantly more fuel-efficient than those from the 1970s, meaning that the cost per mile has actually decreased.
