Harvard Cancer Researcher Sets Record in International Investing Competition

The United States Investing Championship just announced its results for the first three quarters of 2025. Leading an international group of 579 top traders and setting a new world record of +1,573.5% in nine months is Tito Adhikary. Dr. Adhikary, who holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from Harvard, is a member of the Loren Walensky Lab at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School.
Each of the 579 traders selected a real money account to be tracked before the competition began. Prior top performers include Mark Minervini, David Ryan, Paul Tudor Jones, Mark Strome, and Dr. Edward O. Thorp. There are four divisions. Dr. Adhikary’s performance is the best among any division in the history of the competition, which ran from 1983 to 1997 and was restarted in 2019.
In the $1,000,000+ stock division, the leader after nine months with a gain of 251.5% is Law Wai-Sum from Hong Kong. In 2024, Mr. Wai-Sum set a new world record in this division, 353.9%, breaking Mark Minervini’s prior record of 334.8%. Second + 134.5% is Clement Ang, also from Hong Kong. Mr. Ang was + 79.3% in the 2024 $20,000+ stock division. Third + 128.7% is Christian Flanders. Christian was + 433.5% in the 2024 $20,000+ stock division. Fourth + 124.7% is George Tkaczuk, who was + 97.7% in last year’s competition. George is a portfolio manager at RCM Wealth Advisors. Other traders reporting profits of ten percent or more in the first nine months are Steve McIntosh + 83%, Theo Gustincic + 70.2%, Tong Wang + 62.6%, Ron Bagley + 48.2%, Joshua Wat + 45.4%, Matthew Laydon + 37.9%, Rajeev Choudhary + 32.6%, and Melody & Kingsley + 16.6%.
In the $1,000,000+ enhanced growth division, which allows trading of futures and options, the leader after nine months + 99% is Magnus Sigurdsson, originally from Iceland. Magnus has a Master of Finance from MIT, receiving a near-perfect 4.8/5.0 GPA. He is the co-founder of Systematic Ventures and previously worked at TIFF, where he managed a $7 billion endowment. He was + 37.8% in last year’s competition. Second + 89.4% is Andrew O’Connell, of Pristine Capital. Mr. O’Connell was + 254% and + 103.5% in the 2024 and 2023 $20,000+ divisions. Third + 77.6% is the Fortune Reliance Fund, managed by Maziyar Yousefizad of Derivatix Capital Management. Mr. Yousefizad won the 2023 competition with a gain of 91.7% and the 2022 competition with a gain of 44.4%. Mr. Yousefizad previously worked as a senior risk analyst at CIBC, TD, and Scotiabank. Also reporting profits are David Forehand + 73%, Omar Abdul-Hameed + 61.2%, Vikash Raniga + 45.7%, Daniel Lee + 44.7% and Gravity Analytica + 42%.
Among participants trading between $20,000 and $1,000,000 in stocks or ETFs, the leader at the end of nine months is Martin Luk, + 581%, from Hong Kong. Mr. Luk was + 283.1% in the 2024 competition. Second + 443% is Gabriel Blanco, who was born in Ukraine and raised in Cuba. Mr. Blanco, an accountant in South Florida, was + 218.7% in 2024 and + 108.3% in 2023. Third + 304% is Ty Rajnus of Rajnus Capital in Reno. Others reporting profits in excess of 50% are Forte H. + 223.8%, Gowthaman Vijayan + 214.7%, Naser AlRasheedi + 149%, Javi Medina + 120.4%, Venu Ganipisetti + 117.3%, T. Garwe + 107.3%, Adrian Law + 101%, Greg Palmieri + 98%, Sean Ryan + 95.1%, Jan Dudek + 91.9%, Milan Kharal + 82.1%, Tyler Mannion + 68.3%, Castle Canyon Investments + 63.3%, Henry Hunt + 56.9%, Mike Chester + 55%, Ramana Athota + 52.9%, Bejo Mathew + 50.9%, and Ethan Gordon + 50.5%.
Sean Ryan continues to set new long-term records
Sean Ryan, the son of three-time United States first-place finisher David Ryan, is the only participant to enter every competition since the USIC restarted in 2019 and report a profit. His gains have been from 2019 onward, +51.8%, +128%, +18%, +132%, +151.4%, +40.8%, and +95.1%, for a combined percentage gain of 6,432%! In comparison, the S&P 500 is roughly 167% higher from December 31, 2018, to September 30, 2025.
Among participants trading between $20,000 and $1,000,000 in the enhanced growth division, the leader after 9 months is Tito Adhikary with a gain of 1573.5%. This is a new record across all divisions. Second + 836% is Bob Doviak from Dallas. Third + 207.7% is William Li from Austin, TX. Others with gains of more than 50% are Baran Kayhan + 171.8%, Kishor Limbu + 169.6%, Jiri Jilek + 150.6%, Nick Weiant + 145.3%, Victor Presenti + 134.4%, Idris Vohra + 83%, Vincent Yao + 79.4%, Chris Nickles + 73.3%, Urus Lok + 72.8%, Win Wind + 72.5%, J.E. Arteaga + 59%, and Senthil Kumar + 54.2%.
