Former Security Lead for Tesla’s Gigafactory Network Joins The Nuclear Company

The Nuclear Company, which is leading gigawatt-scale deployment of nuclear power across America and pioneering the modernization of nuclear construction, today announced the hiring of Mike Marty as Vice President, Security. A decorated U.S. Marine Corps veteran and global security leader, Marty brings more than two decades of experience protecting some of the most complex operations in the world, including Tesla’s sprawling Gigafactory network.

At Tesla, Marty built teams of thousands of professionals, implemented global investigative programs, and served as the expert in designing security plans and protocols for Gigafactory locations in Berlin and Texas. In 2021, he joined Redwood Materials, the advanced manufacturing technology company started by Tesla Co-founder JB Straubel, that is creating an electric battery supply chain in America. He served as Director of Security, designing and implementing cyber and physical security programs across North America, Asia and Europe.

Despite the need for nuclear’s firm, clean baseload power, the biggest challenges facing the industry are that nuclear projects are almost always over budget and behind schedule. NOS will transform the construction of nuclear reactors into a data-driven, predictable process, enabling The Nuclear Company to build plants faster and safer for less.

Marty’s career also includes leadership roles in homicide work for state and local investigative units in California as well as Nevada, where he was named State Detective of the Year in 2015. He served his country for seven years in the U.S. Marine Corps, receiving an honorable discharge in 2002 due to injury. As a First Lieutenant, he commanded 235 personnel and earned a meritorious award for leadership.
