Trump Appoints Pam Bondi to Lead New Task Force against Anti-Christian Bias

During the National Prayer Breakfast at the U.S. Capitol on Thursday, President Donald Trump announced that he would create a White House Faith Office and a task force to eradicate anti-Christian bias within the federal government. 

"The mission of this task force will be to immediately hold all forms of anti-Christian targeting and discrimination within the federal government, including at the DOJ, which was absolutely terrible, the IRS, the FBI, and other agencies," Trump said.

As reported by Reuters, the president will sign an executive order later on Thursday appointing U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi to be "the head of a task force - brand new - to eradicate anti-Christian bias."

Meanwhile, the White House Faith Office will be led by Pastor Paula White-Cain of StoryLife Church, whom Trump described as "amazing." White-Cain, who is known for her support of the prosperity gospel, previously served as Trump's senior faith advisor in his first term.

Trump also announced he will launch a new commission on religious liberty.

"If we don't have religious liberty, then we don't have a free country," he said.

"Religion is a very good thing. We have to have religion. It suffered greatly over the last few years, but it's coming back. It's coming back strong."

Trump also referenced his assassination attempt on his life in July during his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Premier Christian News reports. 

"None of us knows exactly when our time on earth will be over. You never know. A truth I confronted a few short months ago when there was an incident that was not fun. It was not a good thing. But God was watching me," he said. 

"I really believe you can't be happy without religion, without that belief," Trump continued. 

"So, let's begin religion back, let's bring God back into our lives."
